Our story

No one should fail an MOT for a £5 bulb.

CarOkay started with a simple, slightly annoyed thought: why is owning a car so needlessly stressful, confusing and expensive? So we built Okay — a mascot who actually explains what's wrong, in plain English, and never tries to flog you anything.

The problem with the car business.

For most people, a warning light means a knot in the stomach. You don't know what's wrong, whether it's dangerous, or whether the garage is being straight with you.

So people put it off. Small problems become big ones. Cars fail MOTs over things that cost a fiver to fix. And good, honest garages get tarred with the same brush as the dodgy ones.

That's daft. We thought we could do better.

What Okay stands for

Three things we won't budge on.

Simple, not overwhelming

Plain English, one clear answer, no jargon. If your nan can't follow it, we've failed.

Honest and fair

We tell you what's urgent, what can wait, and what it should really cost. No upsell, ever.

Prevention, not panic

Catch the small stuff early. A £5 bulb today beats a failed MOT and a tow truck tomorrow.

How we're different.

Free for drivers — garages pay us, not you
No accounts, no spam, no selling your data
Real DVSA and DVLA data, not guesswork
Fair-price estimates so you can't get had
Only verified, driver-rated garages
A mascot who actually explains things
